International Reformed University & Seminary International Reform University Graduate School of Theology history International Reformed University & Seminary (IRUS), the oldest Korean seminary in the United States, was established in Los Angeles in 1977 and has produced and nurtured reformist leaders needed for immigrant churches for the past 38 years. IRUS, which started with Pastor Ui-Hwan Kim, who served as president of Chongshin University, as the first principal, and Rev. Jin-Tae Lee as the first dean, was accredited as a school that can give formal degrees (BA, MA, M.Div., D.Min.) by the California State Department of Education in 1987. In 1997, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security granted permission to issue F-1 visas. Also, in February 2013, it was accredited as a full member by the Association for Biblical Higher Eduction (ABHE), a Christian university accreditation agency under the US Department of Eduction. Confession of Faith and Education Strategy IRUS believes that the Bibles of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God and the infallible rule of faith and life of believers. In addition, we accept that Reformed theology expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechism is the system of truth taught in the Bible. IRUS aims to fulfill the gospel of Christ by teaching Reformed theology and theology oriented by the Bible to the church and the world. Our school is based on the Calvinist legacy of God sovereignty, God-centered worship, Bible-centered education and church-centered ministry. It is in contributing to world missions by making leaders.
